Caritas Georgia Charitable Foundation was officially founded on November 3, 1994 by the Catholic Church. Nevertheless, its actual activities were initiated back in 1993 on voluntary basis. In December 1998 Caritas Georgia became a member of the world-wide network of the Confederation Caritas Internationalis and Caritas Europa

Caritas Georgia has been serving indigent population of Georgia since its establishment. Inspired by Christian faith, it has been seeking after creating such Georgian society which protects dignity of each individual and their basic rights so that peace, justice, mercy and solidarity are established in the country and public interests prevail over individual interests.

Based on the foregoing, Caritas Georgia is aimed at promoting human development and social justice, bringing relief to vulnerable and disadvantaged people and encouraging their self-responsibility and dignity.

From the outset Caritas has implemented many projects in Georgia to help most deprived people who live beyond the poverty line. Those are lonely helpless elders, homeless children lacking parental care, sick and disabled people, disappointed people who lost their faith, everyone who is socially unprotected regardless their nationality and religion.

 

Social Enterprise “QARTULI” was established officially in 2019 by Caritas Georgia in order to promote and sell products developed in Art Therapy Studio by masters with the help of children above 16 years, in their learning process. The children get points for each high quality item, according to which, out of the income received from sales, Caritas Georgia will purchase and provide them with items they need to organize their education and recreation.

The goal of Caritas Georgia“ Art Therapy Studio” project is to ensure psycho-social rehabilitation of children with post-traumatic syndromes from families living below the poverty level through therapy by art and provide them with vocational skills to increase their chances for employment in future.
